Established in 1854 during the British Empire, SNMC began as the Thomson School for training military doctors. In 1939, it evolved into a full-fledged medical college and was renamed in 1947 to honour Sarojini Naidu, the first female governor of Uttar Pradesh and a notable freedom fighter. Located in Agra's historic centre, near the iconic Taj Mahal, SNMC is among the country's first three medical schools. The college is affiliated with Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar University and holds recognition from the Medical Council of India (MCI) and the General Medical Council of Great Britain.
